Nirve Ding-Dong Bike Bell (Chrome, 60mm) Review

The Nirve Ding-Dong 60 mm bike bell strikes a hilarious note for the over thirty crowd. We bought it sight -- and sound -- unseen for my husband. He thinks it should clear the path in a way more likely to produce smiles and commentary than fingers and nastiness. Good job, ding-dong bell! Seriously, it seems heavy and well-constructed. We're pleased.

Bike USA Lil Red Trike Review

Bike USA Lil Red Trike
Average Reviews:

It looked sturdy in the picture but was really made out of material a little thicker than tin foil. Also, a piece was missing that holds a wheel on. It was easy to assemble as long as you don't accidentally bend the metal pieces out of shape. One of our older kids was carrying it and accidentally dropped it in the gravel and it fell apart. We don't have a lot of money either, but my recommendation is to save the money up to buy a better bike.

Huffy Princess Folding Trike (Pink/Blue, Medium) Review

Huffy Princess Folding Trike (Pink/Blue, Medium)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
pros: looks really nice, easy to pedal
cons: easy to tip over
I got the Huffy folding trike in red/blue for my son who's 2yr+. At first we both loved it. He tried it a little in the store and though his height is under average when wearing shoes he still can reach and pedal. He pedaled around the house 1st, back and forth slowly since we don't have much room. He was fine most of the time, except when he tried to get out of it, the trike tipped a little & i had to come to help. He loved the toy so much until ... we brought it outside. Having bigger space he pedaled quicker than in the house and suddenly when he turned a bit to the left (not a u-turn) the trike tipped over. The fun ended abruptly with his crying. Part of it is my fault that i haven't bought him the helmet thinking let's just try to see. However, even if he has the helmet on, this trike is still too easy to tip over.
I would not recommend it for active boys to ride outside.

Lil' Princess My First Original Big Wheel - Pink 9" Trike Cycle Review

Lil' Princess My First Original Big Wheel - Pink 9 Trike Cycle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this for my daughter when she was a year old, because it said ages 1-3 on the box. She's going to be 3 in May and still wants nothing to do with it. It has no traction so when she peddles the wheel just skids. It's also hard to get together. The stickers come off very easily. Sad to say, my daughter can ride a bike already and never "rode" this.

Huffy Hi-Low Trike Tricycle - Blue/ Grey Review

Huffy Hi-Low Trike Tricycle - Blue/ Grey
Average Reviews:

After only a few rides the pedal came off. This is apparently a common problem for Huffy. Also the basket for the back never once stayed on well. Some tape fixed that but just a really poor design.
Also the geometry of it was off to. In the low configuration where your child might like to walk it instead of pedal the rear bar gets in the way. In the high configuration, the leverage on the pedal is bad. Also the tires seam to wear out rather quickly. Very unhappy with this.

Purchased this for my son's second birthday. He really loves it, although he can't pedal it just yet (and he's 3 feet tall), but it shouldn't be too long before he can reach and gets the hang of it. The assembly instructions were a little lacking, all pictures and kind of confusing, but it did go together pretty quickly. Seems tough and durable. So far we are all very happy with it.

YBIKE Balance Bike Review

YBIKE Balance Bike
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I consider myself pretty in-the-know about new products for the preschool set, so of course, I did catch on to all the "balance bike" rage that erupted in 2009. I considered buying one for my daughter, but it was actually a couple of online videos that dissuaded me. I watched kids riding these balance bikes, and I just didn't get it. It just looked like kids walking around with a bike between their legs.
When given the opportunity to test this one out, however, I was eager to see for myself why people were talking so much about balance bikes-- and within minutes, I could see the appeal.
First, this is simple to assemble and looks cool. My 3 1/2-year-old couldn't wait to try it out as soon as it was together, so she rode it around the living room and kitchen. She didn't want to get off her bike for the rest of the night-- impressive, considering she owns two tricycles and one bike with training wheels and hasn't really taken to any of them. This one, she thought was fun. While she watched TV, she sat on her bike and picked up her legs and tried to balance as she leaned side to side.
Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to try it out for myself. Now, I am positive the manufacturer didn't intend for a 34-year-old woman to sit on this thing, but I did it anyway (rationalizing that I'm petite), and... I "got it." What looked to me like just plain walking on the videos might have been (maybe they were inexperienced riders), or it might have been more of what I wound up doing, which was sort of gliding. It was fun! Then, to really give the manufacturer a heart attack, my daughter decided she wanted to ride with me. I have no idea how we managed this, but we did, at least for 30 seconds.
The next day, we took our adventures outside, where she rode down the block to the playground and back, finally tiring out at the end and asking me to carry her (it's a lot of leg work!).
There's a flyer in the box explaining why the manufacturer decided not to invest in adjustable seats (it typically adds no more than 2 inches, and kids can adjust by just bending their knees), which I thought sounded like a lame excuse for not spending a few extra bucks, but I ended up appreciating it-- the molded seat is very comfortable and sturdy, and I like it better than typical bike seats. And considering I was able to ride it as an adult, I'm pretty clear proof that you can adjust by just bending your knees. My daughter is a very tall 3 1/2-year-old, and it's the perfect size for her.
I really like the design-- the double wheels in the back add sturdiness without taking away the need for the child to balance, and it feels like safety was the first consideration in the manufacturing of this product-- no wheel spokes, partially-covered back wheels, no place for fingers to get stuck. Our only problem in this regard is that when my daughter tries to go too quickly, her heels sometimes get caught momentarily in the back wheel base.
The only other negative I can find is that the literature about the YBike Extreme said the wheels were solid rubber, but on this version, they're not-- they're hard plastic just like the rest of the bike. That can make for a noisy and less smooth ride, which is why Step 2 recently came out with a Whisper Ride Buggy version of their bestselling Push Around Buggy. But in all honesty, the plastic wheels on this don't seem to make as much noise as the Push Around Buggy's did... maybe because there's less surface area of the wheels actually touching the ground.
My daughter is enjoying showing off her newfound bike-riding abilities to everyone who comes to our house.

Start 'em learning to ride at an early age with the YBike balance bike. Perfect for toddlers, the YBike is designed and engineered to help your child build the skills, balance, and coordination necessary to ride a big-kid bicycle. The YBike is outfitted with a tough, long-lasting frame, with an injection-molded structure that eliminates weak points and offers more design freedom, hence the sleek curves and smooth, superior finish. At the same time, the bike's safety-oriented design will help your kid learn the basics of riding without risking injury. The front wheel is considerably farther forward than on most children's bikes, creating a bigger turning circle. This makes it less likely that kids will fall over the front when turning. The pair of back wheels, meanwhile, makes the bike easier to balance while still allowing the child to lean side to side when turning. Each time your child rides, he or she will come closer to understanding how a real bike works. In addition, the back wheels are partially covered by the seat, keeping kids from riding over their feet. Finally, the YBike's large wheels and high ground clearance let kids ride safely on almost any terrain, including pavement, grass, or even sand.
Kids who tested the YBike for 20 to 30 minutes twice a week showed substantial improvements in both static and dynamic balance and bilateral coordination. Children as young as 1.5 years also showed observable improvements in physical self-confidence. So sit back, relax, and watch your little ones develop their bike-riding skills with the YBike. The product measures 33 by 17.3 by 9.4 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 7 pounds.

Kettler International Kettrike Klassic Tricycle Review

This is the best trike, hands down. As I was putting it together last night for my daughter, I realized how durable this thing is, and how its probably going to be passed down to my great grandkids someday. The colors are awesome and my daughter wants to be on this trike at all times, including eating breakfast. It has every single feature you need, don't worry about looking for anything else. My daughter is only 1, and the steering wheel and pedals lock so that she can't make any erratic turns. Plus the length of the trike and the seat are adjustable to grow with my daughter. She'll be riding it until she is 12. Just add the $20 seat belt to make it super safe.

This is a neat first trike for a girl. She liked the storage space in the rear and the adjustable seat and foldable option are helpful. Nevertheless, I was very disappointed in the "tires" which were described as rubber in the blurb.Beware! They are hard plastic! False advertising, if you ask me.

Triton Ultimate Three Wheeled Cruiser Review

Triton Ultimate Three Wheeled Cruiser
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't know what I expected from a $200 bike but it sure wasn't this. First the good points, the paint job is great. The frame is sturdy and appears solidly constructed. Now the bad, the engineering behind the adjustable frame is poor at best. In order to ride the bike at all you need to stretch it out to one of the last notches which makes the bike unstable. Even moderate pedaling causes the bike to buck like a wild horse and it feels like it could fall apart at any time. The crank system is too short and feels like a circus bike, it also does not stay assembled. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to ride a bike that keeps loosing its pedals. I have owned this bike for less than a week and I need to replace one of the tires already. Most everything about this bike has been frustrating and disappointing. As far as the "fun" that this product promised me, the only thing fun will be getting rid of it. I would not recommend this product to anybody.

Slider The Unscooter - U8 - Three Wheel Action Scooter - Black Review

Slider The Unscooter - U8 - Three Wheel Action Scooter - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wife ordered a Slider from Amazon after seeing one while she was riding her bike. She thought it looked like a fun way to work out. It arrived quickly and was very easy to put together.
It took her a couple trips around the park to get her balance and technique. The instructions and videos on Unscooter.com show three different riding styles, and she is learning all of them. She has been riding it every day for a week now, and she's getting better all the time.
I was a serious cyclist for several years, and I recognize the quality of the components and engineering that went into the Slider. It is well made and I believe it will last many, many years.
I plan to order another U8 model for me and a smaller U5 for our 5 year old. I like it that much and recommend it to anyone who wants a fun and different way to excercise.

This is the ULTIMATE tricycle! We bought two of these for our little girls and they are so fun and so eye-catching. There is a real head-light, which is fun for the girls. They weren't too bad to put together either. One thing that I like about these trikes is that they are VERY heavy, so the girls don't tip over on the when they turn sharply. These are the coolest trikes and I highly recommend them!

Santa brought this bike for my almost 2 yr old. She loves it because it has a real horn and turn signals plus it's small enough that her feet can actually fit on the pedals. Just make sure you look at the dimensions, as it is an extremely small bike that you adjust by sliding the seat as your child grows. My daughter is in the 50 percentile for her height and I can't imagine this will last her more than a year but it is a great starter bike for the price (I paid around $35.00 at Christmas time).

This ripped in the first week of ownership. I believe I should have purchased the more expensive one, especially since the trike is stored outdoors. I would prefer a Motorcycle type fabric one since it can handle outdoor conditions. This cover should only be used to keep dust and debris off. But why not save money and just get a sheet of plastic.
Very disappointed.
