(More customer reviews)I bought my 17" Men's Nirve Starliner from Amazon, on sale, way below the list price. The package arrived on time, and was in very good condition.Parts were carefully packed and undamaged. One lock-nut was missing and was easily replaced. Everything went together easily; though the brake assembly was not the type pictured in the assembly booklet and I had to go online at the Nirve website to download the correct instructions to adjust them. Once assembled, it differed from the product picture in three respects -- the seat does not have chromed springs, but black rubber bushings; the tires are blackwall, not gumwall; and the derailleur gear was not painted red. Otherwise exactly as pictured.
The bike is a pleasure to ride. Solid feel. The seat is basic and might need an upgrade, but otherwise there's been no need to change things. Shifting is easy and reliable, though there's a big step between 1st and 2nd, and between 6th and 7th; otherwise the gears are nicely spaced. All in all a great deal, a very good bike. Highly recommended.

Princess Big Wheel Review

(More customer reviews)Several problems with assembly: I had to use a cordless drill to bore out plastic left over from the molding process that was preventing me from attaching the rear axle; As others have mentioned, the pedals have been impossible to assemble correctly as the crude washer blocks the axle as it tries to fit into the pedal (you'll see what I mean if you're unfortunate enough to buy one); and the small fittings that attach to the fork and hug the big wheel had no pilot holes for the screws, once again necessitating the cordless drill.
It's flimsy, as well. Even though my daughter can't use the pedals because they're still screwed up because of the washer, as she pushes it along with her feet the front wheel--aka Big Wheel--is loosening from the pedals because of the shoddy way they have you put it together. I'm getting different washers for the pedals and will try them, but at this point I can't recommend this incarnation of the Big Wheel. I guess the secret craft of the Ancients regarding Big Wheel construction was lost in the late 70s, and now we're left with this crappy, cobbled together imitation.

Dirt King Heavy Duty Child Dually Tricycle - Pink Review

We recently purchased a pink Dirt King Dually tricycle for our 5 year old granddaughter. She absolutely loves it and so do we! We don't have a huge concrete area for her to ride, so we wanted something that she could also ride on gravel and grass. This trike can be ridden EASILY on any surface. We also wanted a tricycle that would last. The lifetime warranty on the frame and the big, deep threaded tires closed the deal for us. Another feature that we really like is the fact that the tricycle can GROW with our granddaughter. She will be able to ride it for YEARS. We bought the pink one (her favorite color) but it comes in several other cute colors as well. It's great watching her have so much fun while receiving the benefits of all the exercise she is getting. I'd like to know how many miles she has ridden so far!! We are 100% satisfied with our purchase and would recommend the Dirt King tricycles to anyone.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Folding Tricycle Review

But that apart, I bought this for my tall 2 yr old daughter and her tiny 4 yr old sister. Their legs reach the pedal comfortably at the smallest seat adjustment. The music is also entertaining.

Mobo Mobito Cruiser - 16" (EA) Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter has spina bifida. After looking at adaptive bikes/trikes that cost multiple times what the Mobito costs, I stumbled across this product. Now my little girl can ride around on her own and have a sense of independence! She feels secure because the trike is low to the ground. She also thinks the trike looks cool, which helps a lot.
I made two changes:
1) I installed pedals with foot cups from an adaptive trike. This allows her feet to be securely strapped in so that she can pedal for all she is worth - and she does!
2) I used a "hook and loop" (Velcro) strap to create a parking brake so that she can get on and off without the trike rolling around.
She has someone help her get her feet strapped in and then she is ready to go!

My son got his foot in there and after great difficulty and bruises on his foot we were able to get it out. They need to redesgin that part of the product.

Spider-Man Bike (16-Inch Wheels) Review

(More customer reviews)We purchased this bike for my five year old son for his birthday. We were unable to find a Spiderman bike at any of our local stores, so we decided to make an online purchase. The price was very low, and we received free shipping which was great! The bike arrived quickly, even though we had chosen super-shaver shipping. There were some issues with the bike. Once the bike was put together and our son tried to ride it, we realized the front and back wheel were badly warped. So much so, that the rear wheel rubbed against the brake very badly to the point that my son couldn't pedal the bike. We were pretty disappointed to say the least. However we called the warranty number in the booklet that came with the bike. I was told how to submit my request for new wheels by e-mail, and did so. We received the two new wheels within days of my e-mail request and were able to put them on his bike. The new wheels are great, and we are having no more problems with them. I'm not sure if maybe the wheels were damaged during shipping (as the box the bike arrived in looked slightly beat up), or if this was a manufacturer's problem. Anyway, the problem was resolved and the new wheels were free of charge.
One other problem I would mention with this bike, but that isn't a real big deal, was that the front faceplate that fits onto the handle bars fell off. The little plastic zip ties that hold it on, broke immediately. They were very brittle. This isn't a huge problem, as the bike looks fine without the plate. But we will need to purchase some new zip ties to put the plate back on.
I normally would have given this bike a 3 in the review, but decided to give it a 4 because our warranty needs were met immediately, and to our satisfaction.

(More customer reviews)This bike is not cheap. It's not cheap like a Mercedes isn't cheap. It's not cheap like a Lexus isn't cheap. It's not cheap because they have taken the time and used the materials necessary to build a bike that is going to make a lasting impression on every kid who rides it and every kid who sees it driving by.
Basically this bike is wonderful. It has spring suspension, an LED light and steel framing and materials. The gears and such seem strong and reliable. The paint looks (and feels) to be all powdercoating and real chroming (though it could be stainless steel). The main attraction is, of course, the styling and it looks as good in person as it seems to look on Amazon. I'm not sure if eventually replacing the white tires when they eventually wear down might be an issue, but that's about the only negative thing I could see about it.

OnGuard Akita 5037 Bicycle Cable Lock Review

(More customer reviews)My first impression of this item was very positive and I promptly gave it a 5-star rating. I now would give it 1 or no stars, but Amazon doesn't let me change the star rating. I have returned it. I got an Akita 5038 (or 5036, Amazon had it listed with two numbers) that failed after several uses. The casing around the end that inserts into the lock cracked after some hot sun exposure. Sure, it's just cosmetic. But it leaves an exposed metal crimp to mar whatever you're locking. The big problem was that the lock stopped working. Luckily, that happened with the lock open. It simply won't lock and the key won't turn. I don't know if it won't lock because the key won't turn, or the key won't turn because the lock is frozen. Whichever, it went back. Meanwhile, the lock on this one started to get fussy too. I decided not to take any chances. The quality of this lock system, unfortunately, appears to be a problem. So I've just returned this one too.
My advice: try another brand.

(The first impression review) Wow. This is a great cable lock. The thickness is impressive. It makes it stiff, but still you can curl it into an efficient package. The lock itself is better than anything I've ever used (and I've used several, between boat trailers, kayaks, and bikes). I don't think it could be busted up by a blow or picked easily. You get five keys, plus one that is lighted. The lock has a dust guard on it, and is highly pick proof. At first, I thought the key action was going to be fussy. But after an initial jiggle or two to get the tumblers coordinated, no problem. One feature I really like is hard to describe -- when you unlock it, thread it through something (like a bike or kayak trailer) then go to relock it, then punch the end of the cable into the lock, which has the key still in it, the lock "pops" shut. It turns part way to lock the loose end of the cable in place. Then you let go. Everything holds in place. So you then turn the key the rest of the way and finish up. I would never have thought of that, but it's a great feature. It means you don't have to have three hands (one to hold the loose end in place, one to hold the lock, and one to hold the key). And it lets you lock up things in tight quarters, where you have limited space to work. All in all, the cable and lock seem almost impenetrable. If someone can get through them, there is no stopping them, I'd say. But more than that, for something so stout and heavy, it is handy. Coils up well. Can use with two hands easily. I thought I wanted only one (for the bike). Now I'm going to get two--one for each wheel of the kayak trailer (I once had someone cut off a bit lighter cable and found the trailer wheel-less, resting on the ground. I'm prepared to say that would never happen with these, unless the thieves had as much patience as time). All in all: Two thumbs up!!!

Nirve Kandy Bar Cruiser Bicycle Handlebar (Black, 26-Inch Frames) Review

The stock handlebars were too short and too thin, so I started looking for some replacement bars with a more extreme pullback. I ordered these along with a pair of Nirve Rivets Cruiser Bicycle Handlebar Grips. Less than a half hour after they were delivered, I was dazzling the neighbors with my sweet ride. These bars boast a satin black finish and a relaxing hand position.
Here's the information I would have found most helpful before buying these handlebars: The ends are 7/8" in diameter; the center, where it mounts to the steering stem (gooseneck), is 1". I don't know the exact nomenclature, but the rise is about 10", the distance between bar ends is 27", and the distance from stem to bar end is about 11". Hope that helps.

(More customer reviews)Very very pretty bike, I'm not sure the picture does it justice. I love the leather seat and handlebars. Rides smooth. I have the 3 speed and it shifts nice and easy. Bought locally and was told it should still shift nice and easy in 5 years. I hope so, it was an expensive bike. Having said that I was glad I bought it locally because they said I could take it in anytime if I had problems and it would be taken care of! It was already assembled, yay, and rode it all the way home! This was a great investment- if it lasts and stays in great shape for over 5 years it will be money well spent. I had bought my daughter an OP bike at Walmart and it already shows signs of wear. I was choosing between a Nirve and a Electra, Nirve is cheeper and the quality in my opinion is the same.
