OnGuard Akita Cable Combo 6 ft Resettable Cable Lock Review

OnGuard Akita Cable Combo 6 ft Resettable Cable Lock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
FIrst things, first. If a bike thief really wanted your bike, he'll get it no matter what kind of lock you have. Think of bike locks in general as just a "deterrent." That being said, I only use this lock for use on quick errands and areas of high foot traffic. If you plan on leaving a bike anywhere long, I'd suggest a U-lock in conjunction with a cable lock.
I've had another combo cable lock in the past. This one is the best. The combo was so easy to set. I like the use of a combo lock since I never have to worry about losing a key. The only way I can lose my combo is if I lose my mind. The lock mechanism has great engineering/machining by the way the combo numbers spin and the way it smoothly locks together. The length is perfect for locking up your quick-release wheels. This comes with two velco tethers to securely keep the lock together instead of just one.

OnGuard Akita 5045 Bicycle Security Cable (Lock Not Included) Review

OnGuard Akita 5045 Bicycle Security Cable (Lock Not Included)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These other two reviewers could not be more wrong. One end of the cable is meant to go underneath the saddle and then passed through the loop on the other side of the cable. This creates a noose around your seat. Then, you take the loop on the long end and secure it on a U lock. For those of us that live in a city and have nice seats this a great device for making sure nobody steals your $50 saddle. This is not a bike lock. On the packaging it reads, "...prevents theft of quick-release seats".

Nirve Wicker Bike Basket Review

Nirve Wicker Bike Basket
Average Reviews:

I purchased this basket for a bike. It was too big. I returned it, but never got a refund. Am not able to contact the merchant and this the only way I can think of to warn potential buyers that once you buy it, don't think you will get a refund for returning it. Am very displeased with the transaction and will think twice about ordering from amazon.com in the future.

Nirve Fifty-Three Men's Cruiser Bike (26-Inch Wheels) Review

Nirve Fifty-Three Men's Cruiser Bike (26-Inch Wheels)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros: Nice looking bike. Easy to assemble. Customer support was friendly and fairly helpful. Replaced the fenders quickly, but I am still waiting on a replacement tire (I ended up having to replace it myself).
Cons: Bike arrived damaged, the front fender was bent, both tires arrived flat, and after sitting on the rim, while shipping, the rear tire was torn. All in all, I had to "true" the front tire, replace the spoke tape on both rims, buy a new tire, two tire tubes and a few small nuts and bolts that were needed to finish assembly. The Nexus 3-Speed Hub is barely adequate, it has trouble shifting under high loads. It would probably be just fine for a smaller rider, but can be annoying for a bigger rider like me (The size of the bike is suitable for a larger rider, I'm 6'3" and the frame fits me just fine.)
I bought this bike at the same time as purchasing a Republic Bike for my girlfriend. The Republic Bike was well packaged. Everything was thoroughly secured to prevent the contents from shifting and well wrapped to protect against scratching while it was shipped. Comparing the two experiences the Republic Bike was much easier to assemble and everything arrived as expected.
I will finish by saying that Amazon offered to replace the bike completely. I however declined because it would have been a two to three week turn-around to get my replacement bike. Besides being difficult to repackage and ship back, I thought it would be easier and much faster to repair most of the bike and get it ridable myself. The cost of replacement parts to repair my bike was less than $40.

Currie Technologies Power Kit Review

Currie Technologies Power Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Recently purchased this kit to help with some of the hills we have here in Dayton OH. I use my bike for commuting. I installed the kit on a used full suspension mountain bike. I purchased a new Shimano Tourney 7Spd 14-28T Freewheel to go with it as well as a heavy duty kickstand. I recommend you do the same. Installation took a couple of hours since the kit isn't really made for this type of bike. If you are not mechanically talented you should probably find help from someone who is because installation is necessarily flexible to fit as many bikes as possible. Tools needed are wrenches to fit your bike, a set of metric Allen wrenches, #2 Phillips screwdriver and tire tools. I won't go into details as the manual is here:
[...]
Some notes on the installation:
First I recommend some thread lock, like Henkel Corp 209728 Loctite Blue Threadlocker, since not all fasteners have lock-nuts or lock-washers and will vibrate loose eventually. The kit comes with some extras but not many. You will probably also want some extra zip-ties to tie the wires to the frame. Make sure all fasteners are tight after assembly and check them daily for the first few days as metal mounting straps will "set" over time allowing fasteners to become loose. Be sure the wiring isn't going to get pinched in any way or is allowed to rub on any moving parts like wheels, chains or brakes. The kit is fairly heavy so the heavy duty M-Wave Steel Double Leg Side Bicycle Kickstand is HIGHLY recommended. Your bike's normal lean-over stand will probably not hold it. It wasn't meant to hold more than the bike. The wheel in the kit fit my tire and tube but is a wider wheel than the original so a longer rear brake cable or wider brakes may be needed by some.
Ride Report:
I am a big guy. I'm 5'10" and 250lbs. We have lots of steep hills here and I live on the tallest one in town. The motor has very good torque for only being 450 watt (about 1/2hp) but with hilly terrain and a heavy rider range WILL suffer. 10-15 miles on this kit would need flat terrain and a smaller, more athletic rider. For me and where I live, I'm estimating 3-5 miles. The weight of the kit isn't noticeable when riding.
Speed is good, I can pedal along in the top two gears of a 21 speed comfortably at full throttle. Throttle response is good, if a little delayed. This seems to be due to a "soft Start" function of the motor controller. Very fine speed control with no noticeable "Stepping"
One thing to note, always lock the battery in place since it gets a good rattling around being bolted to the rear suspension. (If it doesn't fit good and tight, bend the mount's rails inward till it does or the battery will bounce around on it's contacts and arc, causing overheating in the contacts.) So far, the kit has not been adversely affected by the record setting rain we've been getting around here, though the thumb throttle seems to be stiffening up a bit.
Overall I think I got my money's worth. Until I get in better shape, this is great help up hills. It has a fair turn of speed at full throttle, but cruises well at half throttle too. The only downside is that it adds a fair amount of weight to a bike (mostly the battery) so if you have to lift it onto a bike rack it's going to give you a workout doing so. Currie could have designed the rear of the rack with more space as a handle to help with this.

Radio Flyer Classic Red Tricycle with Push Handle Review

Radio Flyer Classic Red Tricycle with Push Handle
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this tricycle for our three-year-old and had the same problem as everyone else here has - the steering on the handlebars just doesn't stay put. We've had to adjust ours numeous times too. It gets used, but it just isn't all that safe. You HAVE to use a helmet with this guy because it's VERY easy to tip over, which is a huge deal for the age group for which this is intended. It's nice that they kept the classic styling but there's one thing they shouldn't have kept - how dastardly easy it is to get your foot under that back bar and scrape the top of your foot! I did that a zillion times as a kid and now, I'm doing it again with my child's bike! I HATE that! And, I have the scars to prove it.
All-in-all, if you like nostalgia, then by all means, avail yourself of this product. But quite frankly, I'd buy something else more study. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone letting their child use this product unsupervised. It just tips over way too much. I get the willies each time I see this guy go down the driveway. Good thing I've been there each time this thing has tipped over.

OnGuard Mastiff 5021 Bicycle Chain Lock Review

OnGuard Mastiff 5021 Bicycle Chain Lock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted a very heavy duty Dutch/European style lock covered with nylon fabric and in 1 piece which I could not locate easily here in the USA. Here most locks are not secure and very easy to defeat and look/are weak in comparison with European lock sets. The 5020 is shorter and lighter but I wanted a lock over 5 feet long so I got the 5021 so I can lock the frame, front, and back wheel to something sturdy. The lock weighs 10.5 pounds according to my scale which is heavy but from what I understand is much harder to defeat than lighter weight locks and I think it will will deter all but the most determined theifs. I have also used it to lock a motorcycle to a parking meter from the street since the chain is long.

Nirve Classic Bicycle Pedals (1/2-Inch) Review

Nirve Classic Bicycle Pedals (1/2-Inch)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered these pedals for a 1970s bicycle restoration project. From an aesthetics standpoint, these pedals are great. They fit the style of the bicycle and are a decent size for nice easy pedaling. The looks are the only reason these received a two star instead of a one star review.
Performance is another story. The first set of these pedals I received, you could feel the bearings grinding, and you can tell that they are not greased and adjusted too tightly, with no way to open the pedal and repack the bearings. The pedals would not free-spin around the axle at all. I thought it a defect, so I requested an exchange from Amazon for a replacement pair, but they had the same exact feeling to them.
I have since tried to contact the manufacturer to confirm that is the way the pedals are made, but I have yet to receive a response. I do not recommend these pedals if you're looking for more than just looks. You get what you pay for, go with something higher dollar.
On the plus side, Amazon's exchange service was extremely fast and easy to take advantage of, I just hope I don't have to do it again.

Italtrike Tricycle - Quickly Trike with Cargo Review

Italtrike Tricycle - Quickly Trike with Cargo
Average Reviews:

This trike is very sturdy and stable. My kid is fairly timid but feels confident racing downhill and around corners on this one. Seat will be perfect for giving friends and baby brother a ride, and a basket can be easily attached to the rear seat also. Only complaint is that heels can get caught up on the rear seat frame when using push power instead of pedals.

OnGuard Akita 5038 Bicycle Cable Lock Review

OnGuard Akita 5038 Bicycle Cable Lock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This bike lock is much thicker than what the picture depicts it to be. The actual locking mechanism is HUGE and the steel cable is pretty thick.
So, it's heavier than expected - and that's not a bad thing.
Also, contrary to the description, the lock comes with five REGULAR keys. NO lighted key. The keys are also pretty sharp...sharp enough to cut through fabric, so it probably won't be a good idea to keep the key in your pocket, unless you like holey pockets. I have to keep the key separate from my other keys, so there's a chance that I may ride off and forget the lock's key, so it's a bit of an inconvenience.
But, for its purpose, the lock does its job. I don't know how long the velcro straps that hold the cable secured while not being used will hold up, but they can be replaced.
This would have received five stars if it came with a lighted key and if the keys weren't so sharp...

Currie Technologies e-Zip E750 Electric Scooter Review

Currie Technologies e-Zip E750 Electric Scooter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted a scooter to take around town instead of using my gas guzzling car. I had a 49cc scooter, but I sold it and got this instead. Even though it goes half of the speed of the gas scooter, it's much much quieter (not that it doesn't make a sound, it does). It was pretty easy to get together and I zipping around in no time. I'm never going back to a gas scooter or bike again.
Advantages:
No pollution
The handlebars fold up and seat comes off very easily, like a Dahon folding bike, for easy storage
Smooth ride
Disadvantages:
Not really powerful. This is for moving around town, not going on long rides.
Range. It goes 12 miles. Which means, going at a constant maximum speed, you'd get almost 50 minutes of use of it.

I ordered the pedal blocks for my four old son's bike. They were easy enough to install, but they don't work! Every time he puts his foot on the pedals, the pedal flips around. I can't figure out how to make them work properly. Since the shipping was more than the product, I guess I'm just stuck with a defective product and $10 less dollars in my wallet.
