(More customer reviews)This is a LARGE (3" diameter) chromed Steel bicycle bell. Bicycle bells are suppose to be a gentle way to get pedestrians to move aside from the lanes of traffic, and let you pass. If you come up silently behind a group of people and sound this bell, they ALL are surprised, half of them will yell at you and half will give you the finger, but they WILL all move over. I'm not sure it would be audible to a driver if the window were rolled up/AC on, but its possible, so for that reason alone I mounted it on my bar. It seems to be well made, though the quality of the chrome on the mount is suspect and will probably rust. (The bell is RIVETED to the base handlebar mount so you can't replace it when/if the thing get's rusty/grotty/cruddy. Most bells of this quality would be screwed to the underlying mount, so you could replace the mount with out pitching a long time friend. If you want to adjust the tone of this bell just grasp the top and rotate it to make it tighter/looser.My wife is sitting in the living room, glaring daggers in my direction, she cringes each time I walk past my bike...MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It won't rupture eardrums but it will make people jump, if thats your goal.
